Alaska State Troopers received a report from Nunapitchuk of an intoxicated man shooting at and threatening to kill household members on 6/16/2019 at about 0830 hours. Troopers from Bethel responded by state aircraft to Nunapitchuk, and then by a Village Police Officer (VPO) boat. As AST was preparing to contact the house, the suspect was observed across the river operating a boat. AST pursued and boarded his vessel. Don White (age 30 of Nunapitchuk) was taken into custody without incident. Investigation revealed White had used a rifle to shoot at a household member – twice. Evidence on scene corroborated victim statements. He had pointed the gun at and threatened other family members, including a female child. White was arrested for attempted murder DV, assault 3 DV x4, Misconduct Involving Weapons 2 x2, Misconduct Involving Weapons 4, Boating under the influence of alcohol, and Possession of Alcohol in a dry village. He was remanded to YKCC in Bethel with no bail set until arraignment. Alcohol was a contributing factor.
