The teams of Pete Kaiser of Bethel and Richie Diehl of Aniak have left the checkpoint at Kaltag and are currently on their way to Unalakleet as of Sunday night.
From Kaltag to Unalakleet is 85 miles. Team Diehl is currently in 11th position. Team Kaiser is right behind in 12th. Both teams have taken their 24 hour rests.
Leading the race are the two Seaveys with Mitch in first position and Dallas in second. Mitch checked into Shaktoolik at 9:04pm on Sunday night, March 12th – the sixth day of the 2017 Iditarod.
Race watchers are expecting a Wednesday finish for Kaiser and Diehl.
