The Bethel Regional High School Lady Warriors will treat resident of the yukon-Kuskokwim Delta to some of the state’s top 3A volleyball this weekend when they play host to the 2017 Western Conference Volleyball Championships. The tournament is scheduled to kick off on Friday, Oct. 27, at the WarriorDome at Bethel Regional High School.
The top two teams in the four-team, round-robin event will advance to the Class 3A state tournament on Nov. 10-11 in Anchorage.
Playing in one of the toughest conference’s in the state, Bethel rolls into the tournament fresh off a victory over Redington this weekend. The BRHS girls defeated the Lady Huskies by a 25-14, 25-11 and 25-14 on Saturday.
Angeline Alexie helped the Lady Warriors get off to a quick start against Redington. She serve up nine points in Game 1 of the best-of-five series.

The Kotzebue Lady Huskies won the weekend’s tournament, going 4-0. Nome-Beltz finished second, while Bethel claimed third. Chevak and Redington also participated.
Kotzebue and Nome will join Bethel and Barrow in the Western Conference tournament this weekend.
Barrow heads into the state-qualifier sporting a 17-1 record. The Lady Whalers have won 11 straight matches since suffering a loss to Valdez on Sept. 22. Kotzebue, 12-8 for the year, is currently the No. 2 seed in the conference.
Bethel and Nome also enter the tournament with .500 records. The Lady warriors are 9-9 overall, while Nome is 8-8.
