You are invited to a meeting of the Kuskokwim Area Regional Planning Team. This two-day meeting will be held in Bethel and the public is welcome to attend and participate. The meeting will be held in Bethel, Thursday, June 21, 2018 – Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center 9:00 am – 5:00 pm daily. People may call in to listen and/or voice their perspective on THURSDAY, JUNE 21. Public testimony is invited 1:30-5 p.m. on Thursday, June 21. Written comments also welcome, please see contact information below.
The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and develop a plan to guide salmon fisheries enhancement in the Kuskokwim Area. This program could include salmon hatcheries or other projects that could make salmon runs better.
Before any type of project is approved, however, a plan must be in place that looks at potential impacts to existing salmon runs, and other important aspects of our salmon stocks. This meeting is to work on that plan and all are invited and welcome to participate. The people who are involved in developing the plan include representatives from the federal and state government, as well as Kuskokwim residents and local experts.
