Korthuis Crowned 2024 Miss WEIO

Miss Cama-i Tatiana Taanka Korthuis of Bethel was crowned the new Miss World Eskimo Indian Olympics 2024 in Fairbanks this past Friday on the third day of WEIO at the Big Dipper Ice Arena.

Korthuis also won the Most Talented, Most Traditional, and tied for the Miss Congeniality Award. She also won second in the Eskimo Cloth regalia contest. She wore regalia made by her mother Vivian Korthuis and her family.

Other contestants included: Miss Top of the World Jenilee Donovan of Utqiagvik, Miss Arctic Circle Ronnie Huss of Kotzebue, Miss Arctic Native Brotherhood Charity Lewis of Golovin and White Mountain, and Miss Fairbanks Native Association Renae Brockmeyer of Minto and Ruby.

The contestants competed in several categories including public speaking, a talent competition, personal interviews, and impromptu speeches.

Miss WEIO will be headed to the Miss Indian World pageant in Albuquerque.
