Peter Kaiser, 35, is signed up for the 2023 running of the Iditarod. He is the 2019 Iditarod Champion and this will be his thirteenth race.

Kaiser was born and raised in Bethel, Alaska. He graduated from Bethel High School in 2005 and is currently self-employed as the owner and operator of Kuskokwim Wilderness Adventures. He says, “Our family has always had dogs, and I’ve been mushing since I was a kid. Watching the Kuskokwim 300 every January sparked my interest in long distance racing, and a few years ago I decided that I would give the Iditarod a try.” Pete has finished The Iditarod in the Top 10 seven times including a 1st place finish in 2019.

Also signed up for the 2023 race are Richie Diehl of Aniak and Mike Williams Jr. of Akiak. Race sign up was closed on February 11, 2022.

The official starting date and time for the 2023 race will be March 4, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. in Anchorage, Alaska. The re-start will be on Sunday March 5, 2023 at 2:00 p.m in Willow, AK. Teams will leave the re-start line in the same order as they left Anchorage on Saturday, March 4.
