The DMV and Division of Elections work together under state and federal law to register voters. Every night, DMV sends Elections a list of those who have registered to vote at DMV that day. In addition to this routine exchange of data, Elections periodically asks state agencies, including DMV, to compare the voter list to other lists to identify potential non-citizens. Elections has conducted this sort of list maintenance for years. Elections most recently asked DMV to compare lists in March 2026, resulting in the 3000 letters that Elections recently sent.
All the qualified voters who received these letters can still vote in the upcoming elections. They may contact Elections by mail, email, or phone to state they are citizens or ask to be removed from the voter list.

Carol “Kitty” Hafner for US Senate
I’m a Democrat, independent of the party that has provided Mary Peltola with to date, about $16 MILLION bucks, maybe more. I’m Carol “Kitty” Hafner, also running for US Senate but without a shameless Lower48 cash infusion. No one owns me or can buy me.
She missed votes, was a summer no-show; no surprise – wasn’t reelected to Congress. No evidence of substance other than an aggressive pr campaign citing buzz words and slogans. If Mary didn’t make a mark in Congress, her Senate aspirations are simply smoke and mirrors. The Democratic Party Chair is a paid position – paid to write letters – like a commercial – to get his candidate elected. Alaskans and all America needs uniting US Senate leadership, capable of making insightful and responsible educated decisions to better our country, far more than a well funded marketing brand script.
Politics is now big business, eclipsing the actual social responsibility of the elected positions. Communities, urban and rural, are hurting, financially strapped with impacts on education, healthcare, services, job security & Iran induced gas & energy costs with zero resolution in sight. No plan to end the war so costs will continue upwards as winter approaches.
Knowing how challenged folks are, I could never be blowing through all those campaign millions while people are in need. But it’s obviously not a problem of conscience for Mary, living large on the campaign trail.
Again, I can’t be bought. My issues platform is rock solid. I have integrity. And throughout my entire lifetime work history, I always showed up. No excuses.

In response to Gloria Simeon:
When I ran for US House in Wyoming back in 2020, I learned about Wind River Reservation in particular and the issue of missing and murdered women. I’ve since learned this horrifying abuse is not isolated. It extends throughout our country.
The media outrage over the Jeffrey Epstein trafficking and worse of countless young women has opened the door to this dirty secret too long obscured in America. I have been asked what issues have not been highlighted during this election cycle and responded that the missing and murdered Native girls & women is right up there.
Abuse and violence is rife across out America. Collectively, we must take it out of the shadows and actually confront the horror. Men and boys must support and protect our girls and mothers; a dramatic societal change is necessary.
Collaboration with established resources across the country could provide a more universal support and paths to success, sharing proven “best practices”.
As an elected US Senate representative, I can assure you, this issue is one of personal importance as my beloved Aunt Jean suffered physical abuse that included hearing loss, broken shoulder and lost teeth. She never spoke about it – I only pieced together the aspects of her suffering decades later.
While some efforts have been made on stopping these abuses, we know it still continues and there is a long road to a stop.
As an elected official, I know this is an issue I can give my full support for change.
