Anchorage resident Jean Hull, 79, died Oct. 12, 2021, at her home with family and hospice caregivers by her side. Visitation will be held Oct. 27, 2021 at Legacy Funeral Homes at 1707 South Bragaw Street, Anchorage, Alaska, at 3 p.m. Services will be held Oct. 28, 2021 at Holy Family Old Cathedral at 811 West 6th Avenue, Anchorage, Alaska, at 10 a.m. with burial at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery immediately following.
Jean was born Aug. 6, 1942 in Bethel, Alaska, to Charles “Carlie” and Mildred Jacobsson (née Durgin) and had two brothers and seven sisters. Jean graduated from East High School and attended secretarial school in Cleveland, Ohio. She married Robert J. Hull in 1967 and moved to Azusa, Calif. where they raised their two children, Roberta and Robert. Jean retired after a 30 year career in the nursing and health profession in California. She returned to Alaska in 2005 with her beloved dog, Wolf, where she lived until her death.
Jean enjoyed crocheting, sewing, crossword puzzles and watching her true crime stories. She liked meeting new and old friends at the Southcentral Foundation Elder’s luncheons, as well as attending the annual First Alaskans Institute Elders and Youth Conference.
Jean is survived by her son, Robert Warren Logan Hull and his wife, Melinda; grand children, William, Rebecca, Nalyn, Angel, Lailah, Freddy, Ryan and Sean; great grandchildren, Augie, Amelia and Ellena; and many, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Mildred Jacobsson; husband, Robert J. Hull; daughter, Roberta Hull; brothers, Charles Jacobsson III and John Jacobsson; sisters, Deirdre Viera, Hilda Vandergriff, Erica “Desa” Jacobsson, Frieda “Lynn” Bossette, June “Toastie” Jardine, Valerie Gallegos, and Beryl “Christie” Franklin.
Jean will be missed very much by her friends and family. The family would like to thank Encompass Hospice staff, Southcentral Foundation Elder’s program staff, and Alzheimer’s Resources of Alaska for their compassionate assistance with Jean’s care.
