James Albert Luke Sr. went to be with the Lord on November 18, 2017 surrounded by his loved ones in Anchorage, AK. James was born on July 9, 1940 to Thomas and Elsie Luke in Stebbins, AK. He graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic Mission School in 1961. He enlisted to the USA Army in 1961 and served his country and remained proud for his service.
On May 11, 1968 he married Susan Greene. Together they had 7 children whom they raised with great love and compassion. His children remember him as a great provider, protector and a teacher from their childhood. He loved to hunt, fish and camp with his family year-round regardless where he lived. Some of his other hobbies included technology; he was always up-to-date with his gadgets.
James was employed in various trades. He worked in Kodiak, Unalaska/Dutch Harbor, Bethel, St. Mary’s and Mountain Village. When he retired from work he and his wife Susan moved to Anchorage to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elsie Luke, brothers: Anthony, Edward and David, son: Ronald, daughters: Susan and Sandra, grandsons: Phillip and Albert Jr.
James is survived by his wife Susan; sons: Kenneth, Albert Sr., James Jr. “Jay” and daughter Marlis, grandchildren: Skyler, Mitchell, Nathan, Ronald, Rianna, Keona, Jace, and Cheyanne; great-grandchild: Aaron, sisters: Regina Hunter and Anna Luke. James will be remembered and missed by numerous relatives and friends.
