It’s Not Israel I’m Worried About

by Tad Lindley

I was saying to somebody, “I’m deeply concerned about the way the current administration is turning their back on Israel.”

To which they said, “Israel will come out victorious in the end.”

“It’s not Israel I’m worried about, it’s the United States.”

Israel doesn’t need us, we need them

Israel is a very small nation that is surrounded by nations that are hostile to it. On the face of it, it would seem like they need the help of a larger nation like the United States to help them fend off their enemies. The truth of the matter is, the survival of the nation of Israel and of the Jewish people is already declared in the Bible. That means it will happen with or without the help of men. They do not need us.

It is actually us who need them. You see, about 4,000 years ago there lived a man named Abraham. It was out of his descendants that the Jewish people would one day arise. It was to Abraham that God gave the land of modern day Israel (Genesis 12:7). God also spoke these words to Abraham, words that the United States government would be very wise to pay attention to: I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: and I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curse thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. (Genesis 12:2-3) If we bless Israel, we will be blessed. In fact, if Hamas were to stop firing rockets into Israel and instead choose to bless Israel, their people would be blessed as well. This is a promise from God.

Our only hope

What I have to keep coming back to is the Bible. It is our hope. And in the Bible we see that at the closing hour, prior to the coming of the Lord, it appears that the United States does play a critical role in assisting Israel. In order to show you this, we need to take a trip to the Book of Daniel.

The United States in the Bible

Daniel had a vision in which he saw four beasts (Daniel 7). These beasts represented kings or kingdoms (7:17, 23). All of these kings or kingdoms will be in existence at the coming of Jesus Christ. Assuming that the coming of the Lord is near, these beasts represent modern nations. The beasts are, 1) a lion with eagle’s wings (the wings were plucked off and stood on their own), 2) a bear, 3) a leopard with the wings of a fowl, and 4) a bizarre beast (7:1-8). The modern nation that is represented by the lion is Great Britain. That which is widely associated with the eagle, is that same nation that broke away from the lion and became its own, the United States. Russia is universally recognized as the bear. The leopard with fowls’ wings is up for debate. The fourth beast is clearly the kingdom of the antichrist.

The United States in the end time

The antichrist will be a world leader who will rise to power. At that same time, the devil will be cast down to earth (Revelation 12:12-13). There will be extreme persecution of both the nation of Israel and Christians. If you read all of Revelation 12 you will see Israel pictured as a woman who brought forth a man child (Jesus), and the devil as a dragon trying to extinguish them. This is where it appears that the United States comes in during the final three and a half years to once again stand by Israel: and when the dragon saw that he was cast to the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness for a time, times, and half a time from the face of the serpent. (12:13-14) There it is, I don’t need to be worried about the collapse of the United States. Regardless of what men in our government are doing right now, the time will come where our leadership rises up again and stands by the nation of Israel.
