Do you dream of owning your own business? Here is some inspiring encouragement for you to help you get started – check out this year’s awardees for the Best in the West contest winners. This grant program is open to anyone in the Yukon Kuskokwim delta region who would like startup training and funding for their small business idea.

The Best in the West grant program hosts workshops that help you build your business plan if you are selected as a participant. Awardees are selected and receive monetary grants to help with business expenses.

Past winning projects include an apiary, a clothing boutique, a food wagon, homemade leather products, a handyman service, a cleaning company, an upholstery shop, a fabric store, sand delivering, a bookkeeping service, meat processing, a flower shop, a lodge, a truck rental business, a heating parts and service, bed bug heaters, and many many more that have created a positive impact in our region.

This great program began in 2009, thank you to Reyne Athanas of Bethel and the founders who had the vision and to the organization sponsors who helped get this up and running.
