In-air assault reported

Alaska State Troopers, Bethel Post received a report of a disturbance, occurring on 1/31/19 on board an aircraft operated by Yute Commuter Air Service. A 16 year old boarded the aircraft in Napakiak bound for Bethel. Shortly after take-off the teen, who was seated in the front right seat of the aircraft, grabbed the aircrafts yoke and caused the plane to enter a steep climb and then a dive towards the ground. A passenger sitting behind was able to subdue the 16 year old. This resulted in the teen releasing the aircrafts controls. The pilot regained control of the aircraft and safely returned and landed in Napakiak. The teen was taken into custody; AST is working closely with the FBI, Bethel District Attorney Office and Division of Juvenile Justice. No injuries were reported during this incident.
