Alaska State Troopers received a report on August 1, 2024, at 5:30pm, of human remains found on the shore of the Egegik River near Egegik. AST and AWT responded in a state aircraft and recovered the remains. The remains have not been positively identified and are being sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for positive identification. The investigation is ongoing.
