Henry E. Ivanoff

Feb. 10, 1935 – Nov. 5, 2021

Henry E. Ivanoff passed away in the comforts of his home in Mekoryuk. He was born to Caroline Jones and Mischa Ivanoff at Nash Harbor on Nunivak Island on February 10, 1935. Following the passing of Caroline, he was raised in the homes of Beatrice and David Arnarayar/Evan Harrison as well as Lily and John Jones. Henry married Gertrude Russi and together they had four children. He was a beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, and Friend.

Henry was a jack-of-all-trades. He was a carpenter and worked four jobs throughout his years for Bering Sea Reindeer Products as a Foreman, US Army National Guard as a Specialist, Arctic Research Laboratory as a Mechanic, and US Fish & Wildlife as a Maintenance Mechanic. He enjoyed subsistence hunting and fishing, providing for his family, lending a hand to anyone in need, sharing knowledge and stories, and especially the Word of God. Henry was a man of strong faith.

Henry is preceded in death by his former spouse: Gertrude Russi; Biological parents: Caroline Jones and Mischa Ivanoff; Adopted parents: Beatrice Harrison, David Arnarayar/Evan Harrison, and Lily and John Jones; In-laws: Susie and Harry Shavings; Siblings: Mark Harrison, Joseph and Jerry David, Nathan Toots, Harry Mike, Richard Davis, Emma Moses, and Jim and Silas Shavings.

Henry is survived by his children: Gary, Glenn, Caroline, and Melvin Ivanoff; Daughters-in-law: Clara Ivanoff and Sharon Kasak; Siblings: Bertha Andrew, Prudy Olrun, Noah Jones, Hannah Morris, Alice Smith, Lillian, Marian, and Samuel Shavings, and Karen Shavings-Stein; Grandchildren: Ian Alexander, Jessica Paul, Jacqueline, Mitchum, Jamie, Sidney, and James Ivanoff, Douglas Hubbard, Jr., Jazamane and Jordan Fitka, Eliza, Butler, and Harvey Wesley; Great-grandchildren: Kelly Paul and Emery Karl, Cameron and Baron Ivanoff, Rowan Ivanoff, Elijah Hubbard, and Josef Fitka; and many nieces and nephews. 

Pallbearers: Gary Ivanoff, Glenn Ivanoff, Melvin Ivanoff, Douglas Hubbard, Jr., Mitchum Ivanoff, Sidney Ivanoff, and James Ivanoff.
