Go the extra mile

by Peter Twitchell

Being an extra mile person is not the easiest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s getting easier. We always expect something in return. If you do something for me then I’ll do the same for you attitude.

Or if you love me, I’ll love you just as much, but not more than that. People have those conditions. “You scratch my back and I’ll scratch yours.” We never dare go the extra mile. We can choose to be different. We know others who just do the minimum to get by. Then there are those who go the extra mile and feel good about their accomplishments.

Sometime we feel justified having grudges against others who short us. We get easily offended by these “offenders.” We all have to learn to forgive others for our own state of mind and health. Our hurt and pain should never control our behavior. Life is too precious to throw away. Life is mysterious. We all get older very quickly. Some say it’s like a ride downhill. It gets faster and faster.

I’ve learned one thing in my life, everything that I have been blessed with is not mine, but a gift from Creator God, to be shared with others. I’m glad Almighty God, Christ Jesus of Nazareth never holds a grudge. He is able and just to forgive me for my wrongs, making it possible for us to do the same for one another.

Become someone whose heart is full of love and kindness.
