Mountain Fuel Co, LLC (MFC) is an independently owned gas station located in Mountain Village, Alaska.

Gas Station Manager Responsibilities

Gas station manager duties ensure the continuous and compliant operation of their station and range from for ensuring high qualities of customer service to continuous compliance with company, local, state and federal requirements for gas stations. By emphasizing customer service and energy commodity products and services in our convenience store, MFC is a pillar of the local community. Your Role as a Gas Station Operations Manager the Station manager is responsible for ensuring consistent, compliant and profitable operations at the station, with the goal of increasing profits over time while supervising remotely from the Anchorage office. Travel to and from Mountain Village will monthly but may require more time in the first few months.

The gas station manager is expected to oversee the update and maintenance to the gas station tank farm, train and mentor employees, providing coaching and ensure safety of employees and property. The station manager is responsible for enforcement of personnel policies and source and market convenience store merchandise, manage relationships with current and new vendors, ensure consistent quality service, improve employee productivity/customer service, maintain and increase revenue, create and manage expenses according to inventory/payroll budgets and ensure positive customer experiences at all times.

Duties include, but not limited to the following:

•Oversee, plan, and manage operations of MFC.

•Manage 3-4 full time employees including station manager, assistant manager, inventory specialist, laborers, and cashiers, oversee employee performance, mentor employees to improve performance over time.

•Ensure that all commodities and products served at complies with state, local health, and environmental codes.

•Maintain positive relationships with local vendors.

•Determine staffing requirements for the station and determine whether seasonal hires will be required at any point during the year.

•Create employee schedules, ensure all shifts are covered and adjust these schedules to accommodate employees when possible.

•Use market research to capitalize on consumer trends to determine expected sales volume for new products and to set competitive prices.

•Make decisions on all products sold and services offered with the goal of maximizing station revenue.

•Implementing and managing the station’s credit policy and managing contracts for B2B and energy assistance accounts.

•Review the station’s POS technology regularly for updates, providing support and training to employees in using the Encore 700, Passport, and SSCS integration for QuickBooks, ensuring streamlined technology.

•Ensure the station’s inventory management technology updated with product line inventory, providing support and training to employees in using inventory management technology (SSCS).

•Creating and executing marketing strategies for high-margin items, items prioritized by distributors, and other high priority merchandise.

•Create and manage customer loyalty and rewards programs.

•Research and source merchandise for resale and management of resale certificates.

•Plan the station budget and authorize expenses according to this budget.

•Manage customer complaints and oversee the resolution of these complaints.

•Ensure that all local, state, and federal requirements for lawful operation of the gas station are met by all employees and customers.

•Oversee the reporting of employee hours, assist in managing payroll and payroll taxes through TSheets.

•Ensure that employee conduct standards are always met and ensure the company’s disciplinary policy with written warnings and terminations are followed through.

•Ensure that safety protocols required for gas stations are always followed.

•Ensure that security protocols are always followed.

Education

Degree in Business Management preferred or 4 years retail management experience.

We are seeking either one contractor or several contractors who are able to provide the following equipment and/or services: flatbed truck(s), barge(s), heavy equipment for debris removal, and laborers to perform debris removal activities.
