GENERAL DISCRIPTION: Serves under the direction of the city council as the chief administrative officer. Appointed by the city council and serves at their pleasure. Is responsible for the administration of the city government and assumes the power to appoint the city clerk, city bookkeeper, city attorney, and police chief with approval of the city council, as provided by the City of Mountain Village ordinance.

Duties of the City Manager Designated in the City of Mountain Village ordinance and in State Law

•Appoint city employees and administrative officers; hire necessary administrative assistants.

•Appoint, suspend or remove municipal employees and administrative officials, except as provided in state law.

•Supervise municipal employees, administrative officials and volunteers.

•Supervise the enforcement of city ordinances and carry out the directives of the city council.

•Prepare and submit and annual budget and capital improvement program for consideration by the council; approve expenditures accordingly.

•Make monthly financial reports and other reports on municipal finances and operations as required by the council.

•Report to the council at the end of each fiscal year on finances and administrative activities of the City.

•Prepare and make available for public distribution an annual report on city affairs.

•Assume custody aver all real and personal property of the city.

•Serve as personnel officer.

•File with Department of Commerce & Economic Development a copy of annual audit or statement of annual income and expenditures; tax assessment and tax levy figures as requested; and copy of the city’s current annual budget.

•Execute other powers and duties specified in Title 29 or lawfully prescribed by the council.

QUALIFICATIONS

•Bachelor of Arts in Political Science or Associate of Arts Degree in Management is preferred or in Lieu of Education, experience in similar field.

•4-6 years of Managerial experience.

•Must have knowledge of federal, state and city government.

•Ability to communicate in writing oral.
