The Administrator is under the direct supervision of the Council, the city administrator shall serve as the personnel officer as follows:

DUTIES INCLUDE:

1. Under the direct supervision of the council, the city admin. Shall notify city employees of appointments, suspension, and dismissal of employees.

2. With the supervision of the council, must be able to negotiate contracts with State, Federal and Non-Profit Agencies, etc.

3. Codify the city ordinances, and supervise the enforcement of the city ordinances.

4. As directed, shall draft ordinances.

5. Receive and read documents, reports, correspondence, and communications addressed to the city. Present pertinent information related to the city such as documents, reports, correspondence, and communications to the council.

6. Respond to all correspondence as directed by the council.

7. Directs and supervises the construction, maintenance, and operations of all departments as assigned by the council.

8. Prepare a proposed city budget under the direction of the council.

9. Prepare a city capitol project priority list as directed by the council.

10. Assist and inform the council in complying with all requirements as set out for the second class cities in Title 29 of the Alaska Statutes.

11. Attend all city council meetings.

12. Include all other duties as assigned by council.

13. Any part of this job description can be amended or deleted by majority vote of the council.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

•H.S. Diploma or GED.

•19 years of age or older.

•Have some knowledge and understanding of bookkeeping and QuickBooks for working with the City Clerk.

•Work cooperatively with other employees and general public.

•Able to work with little or no supervision.

•At least 5 years’ experience of local government

•Experience in Community Development

•Able to manage a diverse team of subordinates and department heads

•Strong oral and written communication skills

•Must possess good character and integrity

•Know how to submit Grants and Manage Grants.
