Emergency signal heard near St Mary’s

The Alaska State Troopers were notified of an active Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) signal approximately 38 miles North West of St. Mary’s on August 29, 2021, at approximately 2059 hours. Civil Air Patrol aerial searchers from Bethel responded to the area and did not locate any aircraft wreckage, but confirmed the presence of an active ELT signal in the area. On August 30, 2021 CAP searchers returned to the area and still could not locate any aircraft wreckage in the area, a rescue team from the Alaska Rescue Coordination Center was requested. The RCC team flew over the area on the evening of August 30th and did not locate any aircraft wreckage. The ELT signal is still active in the area, CAP and RCC search teams are continuing efforts to locate the source of the ELT signal. There have been no overdue aircraft reported in the area.
