Kicking off their Alaska Tour, Bethel Council on the Arts presents the Derina Harvey Band live in Bethel 7 pm Thursday, December 6 at the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center. Bethel’s own Paul Basile, previously of the Great Elk Band, will be opening the show with a solo Singer/Songwriter performance.
Derina Harvey leads the Celtic Rock sensation, the Derina Harvey Band (dHb). With a show that offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs as well as a few originals, Derina has been compared with vocal powerhouses Adele and k.d. Lang, and her vibrant personality is on full display with humor and storytelling. The group offers a fresh take on traditional folk songs as well as a few originals. The dHb has been awarded numerous awards in Canada and the United States, the group’s showcase at the Arts Northwest Conference in Tacoma in 2017 garnered them the “Best Showcase” Award.
Paul Basile began his performing and recording career in Bethel, frequently preforming at the YP Cultural Center. In 2006 Basile left to pursue music in New York City. During the time period of 2006 and 2015 Basile was immersed in his music and released 7 albums, mostly with the band Great Elk.
