Delicious crock pot beans

by Millie Bentley

Greetings. Here is a quick and easy dish for a potluck or a picnic if you have a little bit of time to plan ahead and make it. It comes from an old friend Donna in Portland. We first published this recipe back in 1998 and it is delicious!

Annabelle’s Crockpot Beans

¾ pounds bacon, chopped

½ cup chopped onions

1 pound ground beef

2 cans (16 ounces) pork and beans

1 can (16 ounces) kidney beans with juice

1 can (16 ounces) lima beans, drained

3 tablespoons vinegar

1 cup ketchup

½ cup brown sugar, honey, or molasses

Saute bacon and onions until bacon is cooked through and onion is translucent. Drain and set aside. Saute ground beef until no longer pink; drain and set aside.

Into a large crock pot pour vinegar, ketchup and brown sugar. Stir well, then add the three kinds of beans. Stir well, then add bacon, onion and ground beef. Sitr. Turn crockpot thermostat to low and “cook until ready to eat,” says Donna. Yum! Makes about 12 servings.

If you make this at night before bed delicious aromas will awaken you the next morning. Until then, vaya con Dios!
