The 2018 Scammon Bay Youth community clean-up was a big success! Or as we call it Cleanup, Green up. Thanks to our youth it is definitely a lot cleaner now. We started our clean up on June 6 and finished off before noon on June 8. Youth grades 1st through 8th got to participate this year. There were a total of 62 kids and a total of 791 bags picked.
A big Thank you to ALPAR, Mailbox Groceries, Grant Air, Ryan Air, AVCP, Donlin, AVEC, Calista, Yukon Equipment, Scammon Bay Askinuk Store and City of Scammon Bay for their generous donations and help for making it happen this year. Big thanks to all our youth who had participated.
We had ended the cleanup with a cookout at our City Office. The day of the cookout was a reward in itself because of the weather. They served some grilled hot dogs and handed out snacks. We encourage our Community to continue to keep it clean and to dispose of trash properly.
