Cigarette excise tax to be adjusted January 1st

Effective January 1st, 2019, the excise tax on cigarettes will be 0.1037 mills, or $0.103.7 per cigarette, $2.07 per pack (rounded), and $20.70 per carton.
This annual adjustment to the cigarette tax rate is based on the August 2018 release date of the semiannual Consumer Price Index report for the Municipality of Anchorage from the U.S. Department of Labor and is in accordance with the formula set forth in Bethel Municipal Code 4.17.020.
As of March 1st, 2013, the excise tax on other tobacco products has been 45% of the established wholesale price. This rate will not automatically increase on January 1st, 2019. Tax forms showing this rate will be made available to the taxpayers by Finance no later than January 15th, 2019.
