A Bethel grand jury returned an indictment today (Sept. 10th, 2024) for 23-year-old Charles Ivan who was indicted for nine counts of Cruelty to Animals.
Ivan is charged with causing the death of seven dogs and injuring another two dogs on Sept. 01, 2024, in Akiak.
Ivan will be arraigned on Sept. 11 at 9 a.m. in Bethel Superior Court before Judge Nathaniel Peters.
The charges in the indictment are only allegations and are not evidence of guilt. Ivan is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial at which the prosecution must prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. For more information, contact Bethel DA Mark Clark at [email protected].
