Bethel’s Esquible presents Ph.D Defense at Kuskokwim Campus

Janessa Esquible of Bethel presented her Ph.D dissertation at the Kuskowkim Campus, August 27th, 2024. The title is “Salmon, Stewarship, and Indigenous Livelihoods: Bridging Knowledge Systems and Reshaping Research Relationality in the Kuskokwim Region of southwestern Alaska.” Esquible received a standing ovation upon the conclusion of her defense presentation, which was open to the public. Her grandmother Maria “Lucy” Harrison was in attendance. She presented Esquible with a family shawl. They are tribal members of the Walpole Island First Nation of southern Ontario, Canada.
