Bethel taxi cabs hit by juveniles

Taxi cabs are an essential form of transportation in the hub community of Bethel. On Sunday, 3/28/2022 at approximately 8:00pm Bethel Police Communications received a report of damage to three separate taxi windows from thrown rocks or other objects in the area of Ridgecrest and Akakeek. Officers responded to the scene and attempted to locate the described perpetrators. Follow up investigation has led to one juvenile arrest on Monday 3/29/2022 and other leads are still being investigated.

This offense is similar to 7 other criminal reports made in the area since January. These reports tell of moving taxies being damaged by persons described as “juveniles” throwing rocks, snowballs, or other items at the vehicles. These offences happened between 7pm to 5am and each of these cases has been responded to uniformed officers. A juvenile arrest was made in connection with one earlier in March.

On March 27th, 2022 Bethel taxi cabs stopped running after coming to the agreement that it was not safe to drive anymore. Cabs started driving back up on March 29th, 2022.
