Bethel Lady Warriors hosts Slamtastic weekend

The Bethel Lady Warrior Volleyball team hosted a weekend full of volleyball games at the WarriorDome. Visiting teams included the Point Hope Harpoonerettes, the Barrow Whalers, the Redington Lady Huskies, and the Palmer Lady Moose JV team.

On Friday night the Lady Warriors took on the Tikigaq Harpoonerettes – winning three sets: 25-21, 25-20, and 25-19. Game 2 was between the Barrow Lady Whalers and the Redington Lady Huskies. Barrow won all three sets 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19. For the third game, the Palmer Lady Moose JV team defeated Tikigaq 25-9, 25-13, and 25-21.

Friday night was also Senior Night for the Lady Warriors. Seniors were honored from the visiting teams and they introduced themselves to the crowd and were presented with gift bags.

Bethel Lady Warrior seniors included Kylie Twito, Caitlyn Laraux, and Kendall Herron. They were presented with their parents and showered with gifts while Bethel Regional High School Principal Alicia Miner read their senior biographies. Good job seniors!

The final game of the night was Bethel vs. Redington. Redington won the first two sets. The Lady Warriors rallied and won the third and fourth sets and the matches were tied 2-2. Redington won the final game 15-7.

Saturday started bright and early with breakfast at 7:30am. The first game was between the close neighbors – the Palmer Lady Moose and the Redington Huskies of Wasilla. Palmer won all three games. Next it was the north slope region rivals Tikigaq vs. Barrow. Barrow was victorious in all of the three games. After lunch, it was the Palmer Lady Moose vs. Barrow – all games were won by the Lady Whalers.

The Tikigaq/Redington game was up next. The Lady Huskies won all of the games. The next volley was between the Lady Warriors and the Palmer Lady Moose. Palmer won all three sets. The final game was between the Lady Warriors and the Lady Whalers of Barrow. Barrow won the first two sets and Bethel won the third. The fourth game was won by Barrow and that ended the exciting Slamtastic Volleyball tournament.
