Bethel Lady Warriors defeat 3A rival Nome Nanooks

The Bethel Lady Warriors hosted the Nome Lady Nanooks – another one of their Western Conference counterparts in the 3A division for basketball – at the WarriorDome on Friday and Saturday night, February 25th – 26th, 2022. The Lady Warriors won both of their games.

On Friday, the Lady Warriors consistently scored in each quarter averaging approximately 15 points. The final score was Bethel 60, Nome 36. Top scorer for the Lady Warriors was Ava Lieb with 14. For the Lady Nanooks it was Natalie Tobuk with 9. Friday was also Senior Night and all BRHS seniors for the Lady Warriors and the Warrior Cheer Team were honored.

On Saturday the Lady Nanooks narrowly missed winning their second game with the Lady Warriors. The score was 48 Bethel, 46 Nome. Bethel outscored Nome 17 -5 in the first quarter, Nome outscored Bethel in the second quarter 9 to 7, and both teams had 12 in the third. Nome took off in the fourth with 20 points to Bethel’s 12. The Lady Warriors were able to keep Nome at bay and sealed the victory with a late basket from Kate Smith and a couple of free throw points from Ava Lieb.

Top scorers for the game was Ava Lieb for the Lady Warriors with 18 and Aralye Lie for the Lady Nanooks with 10.

Bethel is coached by Regina Lieb and Nome is coached by Coach Walters. This is the last weekend of games to be hosted by the Warriors. Next is regions which is scheduled to be in Kotzebue, March 10-12, 2022.

The Warrior boys traveled to Nome this past weekend, they lost 75-35 on Friday and also on Saturday 61-37.
