Bethel Fire Department Calls for week ending November 18

• Between 10/01/2022 and 10/31/2022, the Bethel Fire Department responded to 137 EMS and 19 Fire incidents.

• On 10/01/2022 at 2:47 p.m. medics responded to a report of a person in seizure. Medics assessed the patient and found them to be in cardiac arrest. Medics conducted CPR and transported the patient to the hospital.

On 10/02/2022 at 9:31 a.m. medics • responded to the report of a person that fell in the shower. Medics assessed the patient and found them to be in cardiac arrest. Medics conducted CPR and transported the patient to the hospital.

• On 10/07/2022 at 12:27 a.m. medics responded to the report of a person that was hit by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident. The patient was assessed and transported to the hospital.

• On 10/24/2022 at 11:29 p.m. medics responded to the Standard Oil Boat Launch to received multiple victims from a fire which occurred in Oscarville. Medics assessed, treated, and transported the individuals to the hospital. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of the fire victims.

• 11/04/2022 17:04:00 M5 responded to two patient that were fighting with knives.

• 11/04/2022 20:04:00 M5 responded to a patient that was experiencing breathing problems.

• On 11-15-222 at 10:20 p.m. medics responded to the report of a person with chest pain. Patient assessed and transported to the hospital.

• On 11-16-22 at 9:43 a.m. medics responded to the report of a person acting weird. Patient assessed and transported to the hospital.

• On 11- 17-22 at 5:35 p.m. medics responded to the report of a person with a bloody hand. Patient assessed and transported to the hospital.

• On 11-18-22 at 5:54 p.m. medics responded to the report of a person not waking up. Patient assessed and transported to the hospital.

• On 11-18-22 at 7:22 p.m. medics responded to the report of a person hallucinating. Patient assessed and transported to the hospital.

• The department is entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation to provide EMS transports of intoxicated persons (non-medical) to the YKHC Sobering Center. This will free up valuable resources for the YKDRH Emergency Department.

• The department received partial funding for a new fire training facility from the City of Bethel Capital Budget and will seek the remaining funds from grants and donations. This facility will be constructed by Draeger and will feature live-burn chambers, forcible entry doors/windows, reconfigurable walls for victim searches, vertical ventilation props, fire department connection, standpipes, stairs, and rope rescue anchors for technical rescues. Donation letters have been submitted to local organizations and businesses, and the department is applying for federal and state grants.
