Bethel Fairgoers enjoy fair festivities

On Friday night Bethel Fair judges had the difficult job of deciding the winners for the fair’s exhibits that were submitted by Bethel community members. photo by Kelly Lincoln

The Bethel Fair made a comeback in 2021, after missing a year due to the pandemic, taking place at the Yupiit Piciryarait Cultural Center and the Lions Club Park. Folks of all ages enjoyed a variety of family-friendly community events and activities during Labor Day weekend September 3-4, 2021.

Fair fun included the Create/Cultivate/Celebrate gallery of exhibits, a Kids’ Carnival, the Bethel’s Got Talent Show, t-shirt printing, Field Day games, a winter clothing and food drive, police car ride-alongs for kids, firetruck viewing, and food truck cuisine.

COVID-19 precautions were followed – maskwearing and social distancing advisories were applied.

The Bethel Fair was a collaborative event provided by a variety of community organizations including UAF Cooperative Extension and 4-H, the UAF Kuskokwim Campus library and cultural center, the City of Bethel, the YK Fitness Center, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Center, Bethel Evangelical Covenant Church and others. Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors of the 2021 Bethel Fair.
