The Alaska Judicial Council previously announced that it would meet in August to make nominations to the Governor for the Bethel District Court Judge vacancy created by the appointment of Bethel District Court Judge Nathaniel Peters to the Bethel Superior Court. The application deadline for this vacancy was May 5, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.
Because the Alaska Judicial Council received very few applications for this position, it announces today (May 16, 2017) that it has decided, with the concurrence of the Alaska Supreme Court, to postpone filing the Bethel District Court vacancy until a future date. The Court System will continue to fully serve the needs of the citizens of the Bethel region.
