Andrews wins February 50 Sled Dog Race

Maurice Andrews of Bethel is the February 50 sled dog race champion for 2018. He mushed his team from the Simons Family Glare Ice Kennel for another win this season. Coming in second is Matt Scott, also of Bethel mushing out of his Double Haul Husky Kennel. Scott won the Holiday Classic on February 10th. The small field of 10 mushers took part in the race last Saturday with an 8-dog limit.
The trail started at the Charles Family Lake in Bethel with a mass start headed to Nunapitchuk and then back to Bethel.
Andrews won the Season Opener, the Bogus Creek 150, and his team also won the Akiak Dash with musher George Manutoli. He placed 3rd in the Holiday Classic and second in the Bethel Sprint Race on February 17th, 2018.
Victoria Hardwick of Bethel, the only woman musher in the field, placed 4th. Winning the Red Lantern award was Cameron Jackson of Akiak.
