A young team from the Akiak School attended Bethel’s “Pit Race” in September. The four boys that made the trip were 4th-8th grade students running the biggest race they had ever been a part of. Not only were the pit hills (all 9 of them) a surprise, but also the 80 other runners in the race. All the boys finished this grueling race, and had an experience of a lifetime. Kids need passion to drive them. Coach Quintana says, “All our students represented our school well. They were well behaved, and ran their very best in the race. We have a bright future in our XC program because we had 18 runners this school year.” From left are: Daveion Jasper – 9th, Brody Smith – 51st, Jordan Tikiun – 61st, Cray Phillip – 76th.
