The Alaska State Troopers in Fairbanks received a report from the U.S Army Air Traffic Control unit located at Fort Wainwright on 09/19/2022 at approximately 1854 hours, of a plane having an inflight emergency. It was reported that a plane had ran out of fuel and needed to make an emergency landing on the Richardson highway. Troopers located the plane after it had made an emergency landing at the intersection of Badger Road and Lakloey Drive. AST investigation revealed that the pilot/lone occupant, Malcolm Martin, of North Pole had issues with his fuel that caused the engine to cease operation. Malcolm was uninjured in the landing and the plane suffered no damage. After a thorough inspection by an aircraft mechanic the plane was deemed ready for flight. Troopers closed a section of Badger Road at approximately 1945 hours so that the aircraft could take off. At 1951 hours Malcolm and his aircraft were able to safely take off from Badger Road. The FAA had been notified of this incident.
