2023 LKSD Science Fair showcases student research projects

The Lower Kuskokwim School District hosted an in-person science fair on February 2-4, 2023 in Bethel. Students in upper elementary through high school participated in the event where they showcased their science fair projects. Members of the community were invited to browse the displays last Friday evening.

First, second, and third place ribbons were awarded during the science fair. Winner of the Best in Show was “Exercise & Heart Rate” by Karley Pavilla and Adrianna Dull of Amautluak in the Junior High division.

The Alaska SeaLife Center also came to do a hands-on squid dissection workshop. Congratulations everyone!

3rd Place

● Upper Elementary: Melting Ice the Fastest by Veronica Kelly of Gladys Jung Elementary School

● Junior High: No 3rd place awarded

● Senior High: Convection Carousel by Sarah Wassillie and Anakin Wassillie of Tuntutuliak
