ONC will be hosting the Science & Culture Camp this summer and our application is NOW OPEN for Lower Kuskokwim School District high school students grades 9 – 12, including incoming 9th graders in the fall of 2021 and seniors who graduate this spring. The camp is free and will be from July 22 to August 1 in Bethel. The camp will likely include both virtual and in person activities, depending on local COVID 19 guidelines. Due to quarantine restrictions, we encourage students over the age of 16 who are vaccinated to apply.

The camp will give students exposure to fisheries & wildlife careers and skills in the biological sciences. Activities may include learning with local Elders, going out on the river, fishing, berry picking and learning about medicinal and traditional uses of local plants. There will also be time learning about both Indigenous and western ways of monitoring and managing natural resources. Qualified students will be eligible to receive high school and college credit upon completion of the program.

To learn more and to apply, visit the ONC Fisheries or Natural Resource Facebook pages or contact ONC Fisheries at 545-6001. The application deadline is APRIL 30. Quyana!
