Jaimie Kassman of Bethel was named as the Fabian Carey Trapper of the Year during the Alaska Trappers Association’s annual banquet in Fairbanks on March 18. Kassman runs a treatment center for troubled teens in southwest Alaska. In addition to his own extensive trapline, Kassman has developed a program to use trapping as a means to bring positive values to the lives of the young men under his care.
