We had an amazing trip to the Kukokwim. Thank you to the tribes and communities of Napaskiak, Napakiak and Kwethluk for welcoming us, partnering with us and making it a reality!
We’ve been to the Kuskokwim several times but this trip was the first of many more to come in collaboration with Pets For Life. It went great, and because of them we were able to offer spays, neuters, deworming, vaccinations and wellness checks as well as providing dog supplies not available in local stores.
We are also grateful to Copper Valley Veterinary Service, Ballaine Veterinary Service, Yukon Kuskokwim Health Corporation, Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium, Ravn Alaska, UAF veterinary medicine students Claire Griebenow and Camille Coffey, our veterinarians Dr. Laura Lutrick, Dr. Kimi Ross, Dr. Bernie Eberle and our boat captain Shawn Larson.
The officers at Kwethluk Police Department were especially helpful. Also, when we found out we were too late to go to the store after the clinic we were so happy that Sheryl Stovner made blueberry pancakes for us at 10:00 at night!
Thank you all! We couldn’t do it without you! Together we can make a difference!
