ONC mourns loss of colleague, friend

Orutsararmiut Native Council is saddened to learn of the death of a colleague, friend and employee. Our deepest condolences, thoughts and prayers are with his wife; Josie and his children.

Greg was an integral part of ONC, the Yukon-Kuskokwim Rivers, and this region. He has represented this area in Local, State, Federal, and International Natural Resources Boards and Committees. Greg’s knowledge, passion, and friendship will be deeply missed.

Greg has demonstrated through his work that he is a strong advocate of natural resources in our region and within the State of Alaska. Greg’s expertise and understanding of this area has been a positive benefit to the people of our region. Greg Protected our interests, cultural values and customs, he expressed Conservation and Sustainability as his primary priority.

Greg Roczicka served on many boards, councils, committees, and commissions. He worked very closely with the natural resources of Fish & Game management for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta since 1980.

Greg served on the following committees:

Co-Chairman of Kuskokwim River Salmon Management Working Group, Subsistence representative.

Chairman, Vice Chairman, & Secretary of United State Fish & Wildlife Yukon Kuskokwim Delta Subsistence Regional Advisory Council.

Chairman & Vice Chairman of State of Alaska Fish & Game Bethel & Lower Kuskokwim Advisory Committee, Bethel Representative.

Alaska Federation of Natives Subsistence Committee, Subsistence Representative YK-Delta.

Kuskokwim Inter-Tribal Fisheries Commission Executive Board, created in 2015-present.

He also served on the following since 1980’s & 1990’s: Qauilnguut (Kilbuck) Caribou Co-Management Working Group, Western Alaska Brown Bear Management Working Group, Lower Yukon Moose Management Committee, Central Kuskokwim Moose Management Planning Committee, Alaska Moose Federation Board of Directors, and much more.
