Alyssa Boyer and Courtney Williams used a dominating performance by the Bethel Regional High School hitters and defense this past weekend and helped power their team to a sweep of their weekend volleyball showdown with the Houston Lady Hawks. Bethel swept both games of their best-of-three non-conference showdown, 25-8, 25-9, 25-15 and 25-15, 25-11 and 25-21.

Boyer helped Bethel get off to an outstanding start against Houston. She served up 14 points in Game 1 of the opener on Friday.

After Williams, Katie Crow, Deja Jackson and Arianna Smith had helped BRHS build a quick lead by posting points, Boyer put the Lady Hawks in a deep hole. She reeled off 14 unanswered points and helped Bethel build a 23-8 cushion.

Williams and Crow took over from there and helped the Lady Warriors breeze to a 3-0 win in the opening match. Williams keyed a 25-9 victory in Game 2 by serving up 11 points.

Smith added four points in the contest. Jackson and Boyer contributed points.

Smith and Williams came on strong in Game 3 and led a 25-15 decision. Smith tallied 10 points in the frame while Williams added nine.

Bethel finished off the second day of the showdown with another easy 3-0 victory. The Lady Warriors collected 13 points from Smith and Jackson en route to a 25-15 win in Game 1. Smith led all BRHS scorers with seven points. Jackson added six.

In Game 2, Williams hit stride again. After scoring the first five points of the game, she came back later to grind out seven more and build Bethel’s lead to 22-11. Jackson served up the game winner moments later.

Bethel finished off the win with a 25-21 victory in Game 3.
