Kuskokwim Ice Classic Minute Madness A Second Chance Contest!

The Kuskokwim Ice Classic pod is up and ready for when the ice moves on the river in front of Bethel.

The tripod is about to move! Wish you had another chance at a jackpot? For the second year, the Kuskokwim Ice Classic is offering a second guessing opportunity in addition to the regular Ice Classic we know and love. The Minute Madness Second Chance Ice Classic is a secondary contest under the Kuskokwim Ice Classic umbrella.

Participants now have another chance at their luck in a ⅔ split-the-pot game to guess the minute of the hour that the tripod will stop the clock in the Ice Classic shack. The jackpot is completely separate from the traditional Kuskokwim Ice Classic jackpot.

With the Second Chance, there will be 60 guesses for sale, one for each minute on the clock. That means EVERY HOUR there is a chance to win on your lucky minute! Each slot is priced at $250. Once a minute is purchased, the customer “owns” that minute– no other person can guess that same minute. The winner will take ⅔ of the total jackpot. If all slots are purchased, participants have a one-in-sixty chance to win $10,000.

Because the guesses are more expensive, the Minute Madness Second Chance contest allows you to enter as a pool, forming a group with your family, friends, coworkers, or roommates to purchase a minute!

The winner is determined by the person or pool who guesses the exact minute of breakup. The Minute Madness is only based on the minute of breakup– not the month, date or hour. If no one has guessed the exact minute of breakup, the next closest minute on either side of the exact minute will be the winning time. In the event of multiple winners, the pot will be split accordingly.

Tickets will be available via phone or in person beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018. Purchase locations are at AC on Friday, April 20th from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 21st from noon to 3 pm. We expect the 60 guesses to be sold quickly, so don’t delay! If we still have minutes left on Monday, April 23rd people can purchase a ticket in person at Bethel Community Services Foundation (BCSF) anytime. For people living outside Bethel, tickets may be purchased by calling the Ice Classic sales phone number at 907-545-8483. Tickets must be purchased before tripod movement stops the clock in the Kuskokwim Ice Classic shack. Once all 60 tickets are sold OR the clock stops- whichever happens first- the sales period ends.
