Alberta Maggie Steve Sept. 18, 1969 – Oct. 21, 2016

Alberta Maggie Steve, Cinn’aaq, was the youngest of ten children born to the late John and Mary Cheemuk. She was born in Kotzebue, AK on September 18, 1969. Saint Michael remained her home for the majority of her life where she attended grade and high school, and graduated in 1987 with her 10 classmates. Victor Steve Jr. was Alberta’s 1st love and whom she married on September 25, 1993.

Alberta was loving, caring, and had an open heart for her family, friends, and anyone who asked. She deeply believed in our Father, the Creator of heaven and earth. Every day and night she would pray for her family and all those who came to her mind. Alberta had encouraged everyone to pray and have faith in God.

Alberta loved to be with her husband Victor Jr. Together they did everything from harvesting/hunting of Native food, camping, being out in the wilderness, whether by honda, car, or boat. She loved to be around her family and always welcomed them into her home when they came to visit. She even took in her nieces/nephews to live in her home whether for school or summer breaks. Cii’aaq had a teasing love for all of her close relatives.

Alberta is preceded in death by many relatives, but the close ones are her daughter Audi, father John, brothers John Jr., and Harold.

Alberta is survived by her husband Victor Steve Jr. and children: John Cheemuk III, Douglas, Robin, Hunter, and Harriet Steve. Mother Mary Cheemuk, brothers and sisters Thomas and Elsie Cheemuk, Sr., Hilma Tonuchuk, Elmer Cheemuk, Annie and John Westlock Sr., Sara and Francis Prince Sr., Milton Cheemuk, Richard and Rose Cheemuk, and countless nieces and nephews.

Thank you to those who traveled from far to support the family. Thank you to Pastor Linda Staub and the Assembly of God Fellowship for teaching Alberta more about the Bible and Jesus because He’s our One and Only Savior. Our thanks comes deeply from the heart of Victor Steve’s family. Through prayer we are all healed!

“Alberta’s last words were “It’s a beautiful day, thank you Jesus. Praise God!”

Alberta also quoted “God is more powerful than anything.” “Jesus is our One and Only healer, Amen! “I want to claim Jesus as my Healer.”

“But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed.” ~Isaiah 53:5 KJV
