Cross country season is in full swing and the 2017 Blackberry Fun Run has some new champions. Winning the girls high school event is Reann Lincoln of Tununak. She finished the course in 29:48. For the boys high school race, the winner is Arnold Phillip of Kwigillingok. His time was 23:05. For the middle school girls, Rosemary Henry representing Toksook Bay crossed the finish line in first at 16:55. Middle school boys champion is Raymond Chanar, also of Toksook Bay. He posted a time of 13:47. The middle school race featured a shorter course than the varsity runners course.

Teams from Kwigillingok, Tununak, Nightmute, and Eek joined the Islander host team to participate.

This event is hosted by the Toksook Bay Islanders Cross Country program each year. This event is unique with a challenging route that takes runners up steep hilly inclines and through valleys with a muddy fast downhill finish. Traditionally it is held on the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. Good job runners!
